Snow Day in Raleigh, NC 3-2-09
Friends:
It’s been a whirlwind past two weeks. I haven’t even had a chance to blog!
On Saturday, February 28, 2009, I traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina. Originally, I was supposed to meet a friend for the weekend but it didn’t work out. So I hung out in Raleigh. On Sunday night, it started snowing and by Monday morning, Raleigh was blanketed. The above picture was taken from my 10th floor room at the Clarion Hotel in downtown Raleigh.

Fortunately, my shows didn’t start until Tuesday, March 3, 2009. My first morning show was cancelled due to a two hour delay because of black ice. I had a late morning show and an afternoon show that went very well. The students were fantastic.

All my schools shows were very well-received. The teachers and students were phenomenal, and all the media specialists who coordinated the shows were hospitable and helpful.
On Saturday, March 7, 2009, I was the featured author/storyteller for the Garner Targets the Arts Storytelling Festival. I gave a workshop for the teachers and media specialists – Handmade Tales and Story Fest.

Here I am performing “Madame Poule & Monsieur Roach” with students from Wake County Public Schools. It was so much fun!

Thank you so much to Susan Adams, Margaret Bingham, the Garner Educational Foundation, Target, and the amazing teachers, librarians and students of Wake County Public Schools. I loved my experience and look forward to returning one day soon!
Until next time…
Warmly, Dianne
