Dear Dianne,
Chere Coen connected me to you. I am looking over your site and smiling. With all of these titles of cajun, French words and bayous, I can now see why see connected us. I have written a book (although I am not an author). The process has been exciting so far. We go to print in Nov of this yr and it will be ready Dec 5. Its title is "Goodnight Acadiana". You cannot imagine the excitement when I talk to people about it, even though some are not even in La. I just thought I would let you know.
I was looking at your L.A. pics and I have the exact same picture from my room at the same hotel in Century City. I stayed there last fall for a mtg. Anyway, it is good to make your acquaintance. I hope to hear from you! Sincerely, Lesley

Good Afternoon,

I live in Fresno, but work in Lemoore as a site manager for a Tribal TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) office on the Santa Rosa Rancheria. I am not a tribal employee, but work for Owens Valley Career Development Center. We have a caseload of young, Native American families that we have 5 years to help with cash assistance and prevention services so they may become self
sufficient and no longer rely on government assistance. One of the ways we do this is by providing educational workshops, events, programs and activities. I'm putting together a Native Parent Summit 9/17 - 9/18, and am working with local educators, as well as other partners. I was following up with Wey Wyrick when I somehow stumbled across your name and blog, and thought how great it would be to bring someone that grew up in the area to speak with our families and get them motivated and excited about reading with their children. I'm not sure where you live now, but am sure you are very busy from looking at your blog. Respond at your earliest convenience and maybe we can work something out next time you're in the area visiting.

Thank you.

Respectfully,

Julian G. Garza
