Kid Chef Eliana and I had a book signing this past weekend at A Tisket A Tasket in the French Quarter during the New Orleans Jazzfest. We had a big, steady crowd the entire time.

It was a lot of fun and I saw a lot of people I know in the French Quarter! Here are some cuties that stopped by to buy books! They were the nieces of my friend, Shelly Justice. Hi, Shelly!

Of course, Kid Chef Eliana is always a show stopper. Everyone thinks she is sooo cute. And she is!

On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Kid Chef Eliana and I had a book signing at A Tisket A Tasket in the New Orleans French Quarter during the French Quarter Festival. It was quite crowded and bustling! Eliana did a great job mesmerizing the passersby with her cute chef outfit and food knowledge!

Kid Chef Eliana and I had a joint book signing this past weekend at A Tisket A Tasket gift shop in the French Quarter. Eliana signed her new cookbook, Eliana Cooks! and I signed my children’s books, The Gigantic Sweet Potato, Mama’s Bayou, Madame Poulet and Monsieur Roach, and The Cajun Cornbread Boy.

From the moment we arrived, Eliana attracted attention! We were constantly busy, passing out samples of her Devil’s Food Monster Muffins and signing books.

I was so impressed by the way Eliana handled herself and spoke to people about her book. She sold 30 books in two hours! She’s such a pro!

On Sunday, April 11, 2010, Holly Stone-Barker and I signed copies of our book, Mama’s Bayou at A Tisket A Tasket on Decatur Street in the French Quarter.

It was French Quarter Fest and business was brisk! We moved a lot of books. We met the nicest people from all over the United States and Canada! I love how New Orleans attracts people from all over – an extraordinary city attracting extraordinary people! A Tisket A Tasket was so good to us, providing a beautiful display to attract customers and prominently showcasing our books.

The Cajun Cornbread Boy in the Window of A Tisket A Tasket in the French Quarter, New Orleans 2-8-09

I had a phenomenal book signing at A Tisket A Tasket gift store in the New Orleans French Quarter. Marita Gentry, the talented illustrator of the book, was with me. Lisa Jones, the owner of the store set up a table outside on the sidewalk in front of the store. I told the story live as Marita drew the characters on a large pad. We had quite a crowd gather. It was my first time “street performing” in New Orleans! LOL Afterwards, we signed books.

It was nonstop for the two hours we were there. We never stopped signing books. Yay! Lisa was such a gracious hostess and even invited me to come back and sign books on the last weekend of Jazz Fest (first weekend in May).

After my book signing, my family and I went walking in the French Quarter. Eliana (my 8 year old) and her cousin, Camrynn (9 years old) had their faces painted. Too cute!

We walked around on Decatur Street. I wanted to take pictures as research for my next children’s picture book with Marita, Madame Poule’ and Monsieur Roach, awhich is set in the New Orleans French Quarter.

It was a gorgeous day with temperatures in the 70s. Tourists and locals alike were milling about. It was the perfect day to tour the French Quarter and the French Market.

After walking around, we ate at Fiorella’s, famous for their fried chicken. Then we had beignets at Cafe’ Du Monde. It was a great day!
